 The Sorry Book

WHAT IS A SORRY BOOK

The Open Sorry Book Project offers a space for reconciliation with all human and also non-human relationships.

It is a place to acknowledge everyone and every relationship.

We start with the First Nation-Native American Peoples of New York City to acknowlege the pain and suffering of the genocide caused by all forms of coloniality of the passed 400 years.

We hope to create a grassroots movement in response to all pain and genocide worldwide.

The Sorry Book was originally launched in Australia in 1997 by Australians for Native Title and Reconciliation (ANTAR).

The Australian government's refusal to issue a formal apology to indigenous people and the genocidal practice of Settlers.

It sparked significant grassroots action across the country.

The Sorry Book campaign provided an opportunity for everyday Australians to show their empathy and support.

The large number of people who personally apologised was not a substitute for an official national apology,

but it did demonstrate widespread support and uited the Australian people.

WHY WE NEED SORRY BOOKS

IN NEW YORK CITY

We are trying to walk the path of reconciliation.

We try to share the tears, and we try to do so at least for the next generations and on behalf of our children and grandchildren who will have to deal with the climate crisis of our beloved planet Earth.

HOW CAN I ENGAGE

The sorry books actions start in Spring 2024.

The start is in Manhattan New York City with the AICH American Indian Community House. The locations where the actions will be held are regularly published on this site.
